The Preparations

Bicycle, check. Clothing, check. Panniers, check. Racks, check. Tent, check. Sleeping bag, check. Maps, check. Water bottles, check. Sunscreen, check. Harmonica, check. We're just counting the days until we depart for our two month cycling trip from Copenhagen to Thessaloniki. One of the most exciting and challenging aspects of the preparations has been planning our route. With so many beautiful roads and places between our starting and ending points, the nearly infinite series of possible routes is daunting to say the least. Our tentative route will take us through Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy and Greece. To make the job manageable, Tom is covering the first and third quarters and I am covering the second and fourth quarters. Stay tuned for more posts and, hopefully, pictures. -Mats

Hey Mats,
I just got your graduation invitation and a note from your mom with this information. Sounds great. I know that you and your friend are having a blast and meeting some wonderful people. I've been on the road myself...traveling across the US. It was fabulous. Then I had to fly down to Costa Rica to help my sister. She's building a house there and things were not going well, but that is a whole story unto itself. I wanted to drop you a note of congratulations on your graduation and all your fine accomplishments. I do so enjoy hearing about them and all your adventures. Please keep in touch with me, as I'll do the same. Be safe out there and be free.
Much love and envy,
Nina
